Viviana and Mark produced two films for the weather station on the Majuro Atoll. The first introduces the station and its work, while the second explores the ancient Marshallese methods of weather forecasting. AI was used to create the drawings for the animation sequences in the second film, but the animation itself was done by hand. This is roughly how we envision a sensible use of AI in film production: measured, deliberate, and only in those instances where human skill falls short. After all, none of us can draw properly.
